A very fine English 22 carat gold pair cased verge pocket watch quarter repeater and repousse case “The Four Seasons” with a coat of arms, important watchmaker, Thomas Windmills & Bennet London, circa 1725.
An English watch, pierced and chased, watch paper, inner case with bell, case and movement with matching number, fine, early English verge movement, repeating the hours and quarters, signed and numbered plate, extraordinary pillars, enamel dial, pink gold hands, in working order, in very good condition, former property of English nobility.

Thomas Windmills, son of Joseph.  Apprenticed 1686, free of the clockmakers Company 1695 and Master 1719 – 1732
Thomas Windmills (born 1672) began his training as a watchmaker with his father Joseph Windmills in 1687. Joseph Windmills was regarded as one of the best watchmakers of the late 17th century in London. From 1714 Thomas worked with his father before entering into a partnership with Bennett around 1725.
