An English gilt metal and under-painted horn pair cased verge watch, circa 1795, gilded full plate movement, verge escapement, decoratively pierced balance cock engraved with scrolling foliage, trophies of war and an urn at the neck, fusee and chain, cylindrical pillars, movement signed Jas. Brickles, London.
White enamel dial, Roman numerals, outer Arabic minute ring, gold beetle and poker hands
Gilt metal inner case, the back with winding aperture, case maker’s mark WH incuse probably for William Howard II, outer case under-painted stained horn with a scene depicting moorland with ferns and small ponds, the bezel decorated en suite
