Decorative gold and enamel verge watch
–
An English decorative quarter repeating gold enamel verge pocket watch, studded with half pearls and diamonds in its glazed protective case, circa 1790. Bright diamonds and lustrous split pearls lend a luxurious elegance to this watch. The pearls surround the enamel dial on the front, and an exquisite cobalt blue enamel medallion with a rosette decorated with diamonds on the back. The luminous blue of the enamel is enhanced by the engine turned floral pattern and the outer white and blue frame with geometric paillon ornamentation, a marvellous timepiece in remarkable condition. White enamel dial, Arabic numerals for hours and minutes, gold hands, an 18 carat rose gold, enamel case with split pearls and diamonds. Dial and movement signed. Full plate movement, chain/fusee, verge escapement, two hammers and a three arm brass balance.
