A magnificent, large English pair-cased verge watch for the Ottoman market, circa 1820.
Two gilt, exceptionally beautiful cases: a magnificent outer case with curved band, typical Ottoman decoration, and back with a representation of various instruments; plain inner case with master’s mark IB. Unusual gold-coloured champlevé dial with Roman radial hours and original Fleur de Lys hands. Fire-gilt signed and numbered verge movement, very typical elaborately decorated balance cock with maker’s initials GP and typical Ottoman pillars. Matching chain with probably the original crank key.
