An extraordinary heavy pair cased English pocket watch, circa 1818.
Two cases: outer case – silver, polished, with case maker’s punch mark WB/CH (William Bush / Charles Hazle, Bowling Green Lane, Clerkenwell), and dedication engraving on the backside: Ja(me)s Rhodes, Halifax, 1866; inner case – silver, polished, with case maker’s punch mark WB/CH (William Bush / Charles Hazle, Bowling Green Lane, Clerkenwell). Enamel dial with radial Roman hours, auxiliary seconds, and blued spade hands. Signed, gilt, full plate movement with chain/fusee, round movement pillars, English lever escapement, three-arm steel balance, engraved balance cock, and diamond endstone on balance.
