An English 22 carat gold repousse pair cased quarter repeating pocket watch, Hallmarked London, circa 1779. Full plate gilt brass movement separated by five round pillars, silver pierced and engraved balance cock and side plate, diamond end stone and fusee, all beneath silver dust cap. Push the pendant to activate quarter repeating on a bell.
White enamel dial with black Roman numerals bordered by dot minute track and outer Arabic divisions at five-minute intervals.
Repousse outer case with pierced chased relief of Alexander crowning Roxana similar to that by Moser depicted in Art of the Gold Chaser, inner case pierced and engraved with scrolling acanthus leaves and grotesques, maker’s mark obscured by the fitting for the bell however possibly reading D.A.
