A very fine and rare English gold, enamel and rock crystal octagonal one-handed verge pocket watch, circa 1680. This antique pocket watch was crafted by the British watchmaker John Stiles. The watch features a gilded full plate movement with a verge escapement. The gold dial is decorated with polychrome enamel. It features a gold chapter ring with black enamel Roman numerals, an inner minutes track, half-hour markers and a steel single hand. The case is made of gold and faceted rock crystal and is adorned with enamel decoration on the bezels and pendant. John Stiles signed the watch on the movement.
