An exquisite, diamond-set gold enamel half hunting case pocket watch for the Indian market, circa 1875. 18k gold case, lavishly florally engraved, the front and back cover opaque blue enamelled, set with diamonds, the front cover with inlaid radial Roman enamel numerals, gold dome, dedication engraving: “Goomar Inder Chunder Singh Bahadoor” case maker punch mark “LN”. Dial is gold, florally engraved centre, radial Roman hours, auxiliary seconds, 32h power reserve indication, blued double spade hands. 3/4 plate movement, keywind, frosted, gilt, chatoned, blued screws, English lever escapement, gold screw compensation balance, blued helical freesprung balance spring, diamond endstone on balance, ruby endstone on lever and escape wheel.
