A fine French 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch made by Charles Oudin in Paris, dated April 1875. It has a mechanical crown winding movement with a lever escapement and jewelled pivots. The white enamel dial shows black Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track with Arabic five minute numerals from 5 to 60, a sunken subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and blued steel hands.

The timepiece is housed in a round 18 carat solid yellow gold open faced case. The reverse back cover is hand engraved with the heraldic coat of arms of the Ameil family. It has a fluted winding crown, a sturdy suspension bow, and a solid 18 carat gold inner protective cuvette signed with the maker’s name and address at Palais Royal 52 in Paris. The inside of the back cover is hand engraved with the date Avril 1875 alongside official gold hallmarks.
