Poitevin, Bernard, Parisian watchmaker and dealer, France
Bernard Poitevin was a Parisian clock and chronometer maker who worked from 1850 to 1890. He founded the company B. Poitevin & V. Lejeune. His shop was in rue Richelieu (1850) and rue Vivienne 22 (1860-1900). Poitevin supplied quality watches with complications, such as watches with striking mechanisms, chronographs, and first class chronometers with bulletin from Geneva Observatory. In Bordeaux, there was a shop on Quai des Chartons 4 for a few years. The shop in Geneva was more important. This was first in Rue du Mont-Blanc 17 (1861) and Rue du Mont-Blanc 21 in 1870. From 1880 Rizzoli Dechamps succeeded Bernard Poitevin. From 1900 to 1935, the company was taken over by L. Gironde. He continued to run the company as Poitevin, Gironde Successors. In Geneva, the shop was at 14 Boulevard James-Fazy. The Paris company stayed on Rue Vivienne. Poitevin also delivered watches to Louis Raby, e.g. No. 6890, with a striking mechanism. He was married to Josephine Louise Vannier on October 5, 1851, and was then resident at 27 Rue Saint-Marc-Feydeau.
