A rare, decorative English 18 carat gold open faced verge pocket watch with visible balance, circa 1800. A tiered, smooth case. White enamel dial, peripheral time indication in the lower half with radial Arabic hours, outer minute divisions, Arabic quarter hour numerals and Breguet hands, a visible, diamond set balance in the upper half against a mirror polished background, Breguet hands. The frosted gilt, key wound, full plate movement with a verge escapement, chain and fusee and round pillars. Movement signed.
