A very fine and rare Swiss 18K gold hunting cased keyless two-train Grande and Petite Sonnerie clockwatch with trip quarter repeating, made in Switzerland for the Indian market, circa 1869. Gilt movement, 35 jewels, tandem winding, gold wheel train, calibrated and counterpoised straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, striking and repeating on gongs at the quarters or at will activated by a slide in the band, silence/petite sonnerie/grande sonnerie levers in the bezel.
Case by Alfred Stram (AS), profusely chased and engraved with flowers, scrolls and geometric patterns. Hinged gold cuvette.
Gold dial with painted radial Roman numerals, outer dot minute markers, subsidiary seconds, florally engraved centre. Blued steel fleur-de-lys hands. Dial, cuvette and movement signed.
