An English pair-cased verge pocket watch with repoussé decoration Hercules, circa 1750.
Two cases: an outer case – silver, the backside with a classical scene in high relief, decorated with engraved and chased volutes and scrollwork, and a large lateral hinge; and an inner case – silver and polished. Enamel dial, opaque polychrome painted with contemporary ships, small central chapter ring with Roman radial hours, and Louis XVI hands. Full plate movement, keywind, fire gilt, signed, chain/fusee, square baluster pillars, three-arm steel balance, florally engraved and pierced balance bridge.
