An 18 Carat repoussé pair case numbered verge watch with chatelaine of very fine quality and London hallmarks made by, John Cowell in London Royal Exchange, England, circa 1749. The open faced case was crafted from 18 Carat gold and is a pair case: the outer repoussé case is of excellent quality and in nearly perfect condition, is very rare and solid piece of work with a mythological high relief scene on the back. The plain inner case has the master’s mark IW and London hallmarks from 1749. The white enamel dial has an outer ring with black Arabic and Roman numerals for respectively, the minutes and the hours and filigree Poker & Beetle steel hands. The high quality numbered movement has a London verge escapement with a magnificent cock and diamond end stone.

The hour hand of this watch is a little bit bent but otherwise the watch is in very exceptional and in completely original condition, rare for such an early repoussé verge watch which is also in working order.
