–
An English pair cased silver enamel verge pocket watch with repoussé decoration, circa 1700. This watch boasts an engraved plate movement, is wound by a key, has a fire gilt finish, features a chain and fusee mechanism, and a balance bridge with intricate floral engravings. The enamel dial displays Roman radial hours, an arcaded minute ring, and ornamental gilt hands. It has two cases – a silver repoussé outer case with a colourful enamel painted scene in the centre and a silver polished inner case. The watchmaker, John May, active from 1692 to 1715, signed the movement with the inscription Jn o May / LONDON / 3966.
