Open faced verge clock watch by Daniel Delander
–
An English quarter repeating verge clock watch in silver gilded pair cases, circa 1705. This watch boasts a full plate gilt movement, complete with a crafted pierced and engraved cock, silver regulation and verge escapement. The enamel dial has Roman radial hours and outer minutes track featuring Arabic five minutes numerals, paired with elegant blued steel spade hands. The gilt silver and silver pair cases are truly remarkable, boasting an outer case that is both engraved and monogrammed and an inner case that features a cartouche in the shape of the sun and an engraved rim.

This timepiece was crafted by the skilled hands of Daniel Delander, a British watchmaker who lived from 1678 to 1733. The movement is signed with his name and the location of his workshop, London. The case is marked with the letters EL and other markings that are unfortunately indecipherable. However, a London mark from 1786-87 can be seen on the timepiece. All of these marks are located inside the back of the outer case.
