An English gilt metal pair cased verge pocket watch, circa 1705. Gilt full plate fusee verge movement, winged pierced and engraved balance cock, plain undersprung 3 armed steel balance, silver regulation, tulip pillars. Later white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, black outer minute track with Arabic numeral 5 minute markers, blued steel beetle and poker hands. Later gilt metal inner case, leather covered gilt metal outer with piqué work decoration. Movement signed.

Edward Banger (circa 1668-1720) was apprenticed to Thomas Tompion in 1687 and became free of the Clockmakers Company in 1695. Tompion and Banger worked together from around 1701 until 1708 when the partnership was abruptly (and somewhat mysteriously) terminated.
