A rare, early English pair cased verge pocket watch, circa 1690. This watch has a silver case that is covered in tortoiseshell. The case has an inlaid silver crest and is florally engraved. It also features a large lateral hinge and is polished. The maker’s punch mark VB can be found on the case. The watch has a silver dial that is Champlevé and has radial Roman numerals. The dial’s centre is engraved and signed and has blued tulip hands. The watch has a full plate movement that is keywind and has been gilt. The movement also features applied decorations and is signed. It has a chain/fusee, tulip pillars, and a three-arm steel balance. The balance cock is very finely florally engraved and pierced.
