An extremely rare, French pair cased verge watch repeater, important Würzburger watch master Johann Henner, circa 1715. A silver, pair cased, first case pierced with splendid decoration of tendrils, various animals, grotesque face, town scene, second case also pierced, surrounded with tendrils, birds, mythical creatures and a portrait of a lady, bell, early verge movement from 1710/1715, signed on the plate, magnificent ornamentation with grotesque face, very nice pillars, hammers with floral decoration, repeating hours and quarters, very nice and original Champlevé dial, signed, central figured relief and portrait under the letter C or G, with very good sound.

Johann Henner was born in Wasserburg am Bodensee in 1676. In 1709 he became master of watchmaking. In 1732 he was appointed as a royal watchmaker. In 1753 he took his son-in-law Johann Trauner as co-master and partner of his business. He died in 1756. Today, many of his watches are kept in private collections, but also in various museums, such as the Mainfränkisches Museum in Würzburg.
