Silver open faced verge with tortoiseshell outer case

A rare English pair cased verge pocket watch with day and night indicator, circa 1690. Signed full plate movement, keywind, chain/fusee, verge escapement, florally engraved and pierced balance cock. Silver champlevé dial with Roman numerals for diurnal and nocturnal hours, the bottom half of the dial with engraved birds and scrolled foliage, the upper half with aperture for sun and moon indication, engraved moon, stars and sun on a blued steel disc, blued steel hand. Silver inner case, marked AR, signed Fr. Stamper London, brass outer case covered with tortoiseshell and foliate scrolling silver piqué work.
