A triple cased English verge pocket watch with tortoiseshell outer case and stud decoration made for the Ottoman market, circa 1790.
Three cases: tortoiseshell-covered protection case with stud decoration; outer case – brass, firegilt, tiered, engraved, with large lateral hinge and inner case – brass, firegilt, polished, with case makers punch mark “IR”. Enamel dial with radial Ottoman numerals and minutes. Full plate movement, keywind, firegilt, signed, with applied floral decorations, chain/fusee, lavishly ornamented, pierced movement pillars, verge escapement, three-arm steel balance and very finely florally engraved and pierced balance cock with flower and vase decoration.
