An excellent English silver gilt, painted on enamel and pearl set pocket watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1835. Gilt brass movement, fully engraved, Chinese calibre, jewelled, free-standing barrel, duplex escapement, three arm uncut polished steel balance with flat balance spring, diamond endstone, polished steel index regulator.

The back with a polychrome enamel painted classical scene of a couple in the park, the scene is surrounded by red translucent enamel over a guilloché background, half-pearl set bezels, pendant and bow, spring loaded gilt cuvette mounted on the movement ring. The spring loaded back opens by pushing the button on top.
White enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, outer minute and second divisions with Arabic numerals, gold spade hands and centre seconds. Movement signed: Richardson London.
