An exceptional French brass open faced pocket watch in a wooden display case, circa 1886. This watch appears to be a one of a kind prototype featuring an elliptical escapement system designed and crafted by Henri Labey. It has a white enamel dial, signed ECHAPPEMENT ELIPTIQUE INVENTÉ ET FAIT PAR HENRI LABEY, with Roman numerals for the hours, outer minute dots, Arabic five minute divisions and Louis XV style hands. The case is made of brass, and it comes in a wooden display box.
