Fine and rare gold and painted on enamel paste-set pair cased Montre à Portrait made by Monnier & Mussard, Genève, Circa 1780.
Outer case: two-body, back with a painted-on enamel portrait of a lady, paste frame, translucent imperial blue enamel border over circular engine-turning, gold paillon border, band engraved with a repeated pattern, front bezel set with pastes. Inner: two-body, bassine, polished, with deep back.
White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track with five-minute Arabic numerals. Pierced gilt hands.
Hinged movement with frosted gilt full-plate with pentagonal baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, brass balance with flat balance spring and a single-footed cock with ruby-paste end stone.
Dial and movement signed.
