A very fine early lépine watch with stone setting, made by Jacques Jérôme Gudin in Paris, France, circa 1769. The numbered open faced case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold and its bezel is set with original stones. The white enamel dial has black Arabic five minute numerals, black Roman hour numerals , is set with original stones as are the hands. The movement is, for the period during which this watch was made, very thin and has a verge escapement.
The case and movement have matching numbers and the dial and movement are signed.
