Gold watch with ruby cylinder escapement

A very fine and rare French, 20K gold quarter repeating pocket watch with ruby cylinder escapement, circa 1804. A Monsieur Chaudoir, Breguet, sold to Monsieur Chaudoir on 6 Februari, An 12 (November 27, 1804), for 1,240 francs. An engine turned and polished reeded band. Empire by Amy Gros. Gilt brass cuvette.White enamel dial by Borel, Breguet numerals and outer minute track, secret signature below 12. Blued steel Breguet hands.

A gilt movement, standing barrel, overhanging ruby cylinder escapement, plain three-arm balance with parachute on the top pivot, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator with bimetallic temperature compensation curb, all-or-nothing repeating with two hammers on the side of the case activated by depressing the pendant. Dial and cuvette signed.
