A fine and rare, large French, 18K gold montre de souscription pocket watch with ruby cylinder escapement, circa 1814. Short gold Breguet chain and gold Breguet ratchet key. Sold to Reveraud, Nieuport, on July 22, 1814, for 840 Francs. Accompanied by a Breguet certificate and numbered fitted Breguet red morocco box. An Empire case by Joly (master mark), polished, loose ring pendant.

White enamel dial by Lucard, Breguet numerals, outer divisions for the five minutes, quarter and half-hours, secret signature below 12. Blued steel souscription hand. A gilt brass movement, souscription calibre with central barrel wound from the front or back, overhanging ruby cylinder escapement, three-arm gold balance, pare-chute on the top pivot, flat balance spring, bimetallic temperature compensation curb on the index regulator. Dial and movement signed.
