A French 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch made by J. Barrier, circa 1850. It has a hand wound mechanical movement with a cylinder escapement and key winding. The white enamel dial shows painted black Roman numerals for the hours, outer Arabic numerals at five minute intervals, a railway minute track, and fleur de lys hands. The watch has a round, solid gold open faced case with a smooth bezel, a round bow, a gold inner back cuvette bearing the French horsehead hallmark, and a case back decorated with a guilloché pattern centred on a medallion. The watch comes with an 18 carat gold chain and a matching decorative key.
