Gold watch with an ivory miniature in a protective case

A very fine French 18 carat gold, enamel and diamond set pocket watch with an ivory miniature in a protective case, circa 1780. Andromache by Lépine in Paris, France. The protective polished case is glazed on the back. The case back centered by a navette shaped painted on ivory monochrome miniature depicting Andromache mourning Hector sitting in front of a vase on a pedestal surrounded by a rose cut diamond set frame, a translucent red enamel border, the bezels engraved in a repeated pattern, the front bezel and bow set with rose cut diamonds, a gilt brass hinged cuvette with an aperture for the balance cock.

White enamel dial, radial Roman hours, an outer minute track with Arabic five minute numerals and elaborate rose cut diamond set hands. A frosted gilt full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, micrometric potence adjustment, brass balance with flat balance spring, continental cock and silver regulation disc.
