Gold open faced cylinder pocket watch

A very fine French, 18K gold quarter repeating watch, circa 1819. Sold to Messieurs Outrequin & Jauge on June 22, 1819 for 1320 francs.The case is made by master case maker Joly, polished with an engine-turned band, gilt hinged cuvette. White enamel dial, Breguet numerals, outer minute divisions, secret signature below 12 o’clock. Blued steel Breguet hands. A gilt brass movement, standing barrel, entirely jewelled Breguet overhanging ruby cylinder escapement, compensation curb, pare-chute on the top pivot, anchor governor on the repeating train, repeating on short gongs by the pull-and-turn piston in the pendant. Signed on dial and cuvette, case punched by Joly and French guarantee marks.
