Gold verge lady’s pocket watch

A fine Swiss 20K gold, enamel and diamond-set pair-cased verge pocket watch, circa 1780. Matted and chased bezels with continuous leaf decoration, the back set with a painted on enamel portrait of a lady with roses in her hair, rose-cut diamond-set border and pierced surround over a royal blue translucent enamel ground. White enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track with Arabic five-minute numerals and diamond-set pierced hands. A hinged gilt-brass full plate movement with hexagonal baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, single-footed cock, faceted red endstone, silver regulation disc. Dial and movement signed.
