A French fine “à toc et à tact” quarter repeating verge pocket watch with “repoussé” decoration, circa 1780.
18 carat gold case with large diamond thumb piece, large lateral hinge and the back cover with punched decoration in high relief depicting a classical scene of female enthroned flanked by two cherubs. Signed enamel dial with radial Roman hours, Arabic minutes and paste-set Louis XV hands. Fire gilt, signed, engraved full plate movement with chain/fusee, conical movement pillars, 2 hammers, triangular brass balance and pierced balance bridge.
