Silver watch with enamel Garden of Eden scene

A fine and unusual Swiss silver open faced verge pocket watch with automaton and date, circa 1815. An Empire case, master mark JM, polished with a ribbed band. White enamel dial, small eccentric radial time indication with dauphine hours, outer minute divisions, Arabic quarter-hour numerals, an inner date chapter ring numbered from 1-31, engraved and pierced fancy gold hands, the upper half decorated with a finely polychrome painted scene of a lion and a stork in a landscape and a glazed aperture with the serpent revolving around a small painted scene featuring Adam and Eve beneath the apple tree in the Garden of Eden. A hinged gilt-brass full plate movement, cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt-brass continental balance cock with polished steel end-piece, large index regulator.
