Rare oval single handed hunting watch

A rare, oval, single handed pre balance spring Renaissance watch, brass case, regilt, the front and back cover lavishly engraved with grotesque ornaments, the band with florally engraved ribbons and portrait cartouches, the back lid with compass and sun dial, gnomon is hinged and folds at, circa 1640. Brass dial, regilt, lavishly engraved with foliage decor and gures, applied silver chapter ring with Roman numerals, engraved centre depicting a landscape with a gure, single iron hand. Oval regilt brass full plate movement, applied oral decorations, verge escapement, gut/fusee, baluster movement pillars, ratchet wheel set up with blued steel spring, two-arm iron balance without balance spring, fine florally engraved, pierced balance cock.
