Fine and rare French decorative verge pocket watch in 18 carat yellow gold, enamel, and diamond set case, circa 1780-1790. The watch has a royal blue flinqué enamel case back with a diamond set motif featuring a Love Trophy (cypher, arrow, and quiver) at the centre. Enamel dial with Roman radial hours, outer minutes track with Arabic five minute numerals, paste set, and paste set pierced hands. Keywinding, gilded brass movement with fusee and chain, verge escapement, monometallic balance, and blued steel hairspring. Dial and movement signed.
