An early, remarkable and rare English silver and gilded brass pre-balance spring oval verge pendant watch, circa 1610-1620. Plain case. Gilt-brass dial, the outer rim engraved with motifs of birds, lilies and sunflowers, silver chapter ring with Roman hours and applied knobs for time reading by night, an engraved erotic scene in the centre. Fire gilt-brass full plate movement, keywind, gut and fusee, verge escapement, plain two-arm iron balance without balance spring.
