An important and extremely fine French 18 carat gold open faced minute repeating astronomic lever pocket watch with independent split seconds chronograph, independent flying fifths of a seconds indication seconde foudroyante, constant seconds with day and date indication, two time zone, moon phase, moon age and a thermometer with indication in Réaumur, circa 1867. Frosted gilt bridge movement, polished screws, ground double hand tong with polished bevelling, separate ratchet wheel for split seconds chronograph, two hammers, two gongs, tandem wind with matted click works on the top, pink gold wheel train, screw compensation balance, blued Breguet balance spring, seconds stop device, counterpoised lever, ruby end stone on lever and escape wheel. Signed gold cuvette. White enamel dial, two peripheral chapter rings with Roman numerals, sunk 1/5 seconde foudroyante at 6 o’clock, auxiliary seconds, moon phase and age, thermometer, sunk day and date indication, cobalt blue enamelled moon phase disc with inlaid golden stars and moon, blued spade hands. Engine turned à goutte case, slide for repeating mechanism.
