An important French 18 carat gold and pearl set verge pocket watch with a fine polychrome enamel painting from the early 19th century. This watch has a verge movement with a chain and fusee, and cock. It features a white enamel dial with Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track marked with Arabic five minute numerals, and gold Fleur de Lys hands. The yellow gold case is decorated with an enamelled miniature depicting a country scene in front of the altar of love, set within a frame adorned with a garland of leaves and flowers in appliqué with lines of half pearls. The white enamelled dial and plate are signed.
