Gold and enamel repeating verge watch

A very fine Swiss 18 Carat gold and enamel open faced quarter repeating verge pocket watch with an outer protecting case, circa 1780. A Louis XVI case, the bezels decorated with a chased intertwined leaf and chain pattern, on the back a shepherdess and two sheep painted en grisaille in a polychrome enamel landscape and pink ground, a gold paillon border, outer sky blue border with gold leaf paillon and white enamel decoration.

White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer dot minute divisions and Arabic five minute numerals, fancy pierced gilt metal hands. A frosted gilt full plate movement, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three arm brass balance with flat balance spring, continental balance cock with polished steel endplate, silver regulation dial, repeating on a bell activated by depressing the pendant. Dial and movement signed.
