Gold hunting cased lever watch

A very fine and rare, 18K gold French hunting cased, keyless quarter repeating pocket watch, circa 1890. Movement by Louis Audemars, sold to madam De Barros for 1550 francs. Polished covers and band, hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions with five-minute Arabic markers, subsidiary seconds. Yellow gold spade hands.

A frosted gilt movement, 29 jewels, straight-line counterpoised lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, Audemars keyless winding, wolf-tooth winding wheels, pin-set, repeating on gongs via activating slide in the band. Signed and numbered on the cuvette for Breguet, movement and case numbered by Louis Audemars.
