Gold open faced pocket watch

A very fine and very rare French 18K gold pocket watch with ruby cylinder escapement, circa 1809. Engine-turned and polished, reeded band, loose ring bow. Gilt metal cuvette. White enamel dial by Borel, Breguet numerals, outer minute track, secret signature below 12. Blued steel Breguet hands.

A frosted gilt movement, simple nouveau calibre, three lateral bridges, standing barrel, ruby cylinder escapement, plain three-arm brass balance with pare-chute on the upper pivot, flat blued steel balance spring, index regulator with bimetallic temperature compensation curb. Dial, cuvette and movement signed.
