A gentleman’s very fine quarter repeating pocket watch “à toc” with cylinder escapement, circa 1800. Case is 18k gold, polished, signed and numbered movement protection cap, pusher for repetition via pendant. Enamel dial, radial Roman hours, blued Breguet hands. Full plate movement, keywind, firegilt, signed, 2 hammers, chain/fusee, conical movement pillars, three arm brass balance, fine florally engraved and pierced balance bridge.

Jean-Pierre Gregson originally came from England. In 1776 he was appointed watchmaker to the king in Paris. He was one of the first watchmakers of his time to use the Lépine calibre. In 1787 Gregson founded a watch manufacture in Braille.
