Gold, enamel and pearl flower watch

Magnificent and exceptionally rare Swiss 18 carat gold, painted and champlevé enamel, pearl set pocket watch, circa 1820. So called the Chinese Lotus Flower. The back is realistically formed and exquisitely painted as a lotus flower with half pearl set decoration, the center decorated with a green emerald translucent enamel over engineturning and pearls set stern which forms the pendant, band in a pink enamel with flowers engraved and garlands of split pearls to match the bow. Hinged gold cuvette decorated with light blue champlevé enamel foliage, apertures for hand setting. A gold engine turned dial with Roman numerals and serpentine hands. A gilt brass movement, standing barrel, cylinder escapement, three arm brass balance, blued steel flat balancespring. The case and movement are signed.
