A French metal open faced Art Deco square smoking pocket watch, circa 1934. This watch features a mechanical lever movement, signed by Encausse & Krasker. The silver dial features square markers and blued baton hands, and is signed RENÉ BOIVIN. The case is made of metal with a cut rock crystal bezel. This watch is a design by René Boivin, with a drawing by Suzanne Belperron.

According to the archives of the House BOIVIN, this watch was acquired by Mrs Suzanne TEZENAS in December 1934, based on the original design by Suzanne BELPERRON. The watch is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from the House BOIVIN, dated March 2023.

Léon-André Boivin was born on Saturday, 27 January 1877, in Fécamp, Seine-Maritime. He was the son of Narcisse-Gustave Boivin and Émilie-Élisa Ricoeur. Léon-André Boivin married the watchmaker Eugènie-Marguerite Boucourt on Monday, 18 November 1901, in Saint-Nicolas d’Aliermont. Eugènie-Marguerite was the daughter of the watchmaker couple Eugène-Achille Boucourt and Marie-Juliètte Troude. From this marriage, Léon-André and Eugènie-Marguerite had two daughters, Andréa-Juliette Boivin and Marguerite-Marie-Eugènie Boivin. Marguerite-Marie-Eugènie married her nephew, Georges-Julien-Raoul Boucourt, a son of the watchmaker couple Georges-Albert Boucourt and Augustine-Juliette Poyer.

On Saturday, 12 January 1901, in Bellengreville, Léon-André was the best man at the wedding of Eugène-Achille Junior and Maria-Jeanne Boé, daughter of the watchmaker Albert-Hyppolite Boé.
