A French ornate 18k yellow gold, enamel and gem-set open faced watch with chatelaine, circa 1875, jeweled gilt lever movement, 18k gold cuvette.
white enamel dial, Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds. the hinged openwork back centered by a chased and sculpted female figure flanked by griffins, chased and enameled scrolls, diamond-set stars, exquisitely wrought chatelaine, surmounted by a globe atop an hourglass, flanked by maidens, the central portion featuring a realistically chased and enameled depiction of Apollo atop a chariot drawn by four stallions, beneath diamond-set sunrays, within a diamond-set frame, all atop a carved lady’s head, flanked by enameled griffins, movement numbered, cuvette and chatelaine signed.
