Silver and brass-gilt oval verge watch by Jacques Le Vieille (Viaille)

An extremely early oval French gilt and silver one-handed Renaissance pendant watch, circa 1600-1650. The watch features an oval case made of brass gilt and silver and has a hinged lid. Engraved scenes of a goddess and a city view are present on both sides of the case. The watch is equipped with a signed oval verge movement with stackfreed, which is driven by gut string. The silver relief dial is very beautiful and has Roman radial hours, along with an iron single-heart hand.
