Rock crystal and gilt-brass watch by Abraham Bobinet

A rare French rock crystal, gilt-brass and silver cross-shaped pendant watch, circa 1650. This watch boasts a gilt-brass, blued steel full plate movement with a verge escapement and an intricately engraved and pierced balance cock. The dial is adorned with an applied silver chapter ring featuring Roman numerals, half-hour markers, and a single steel hand. The centre of the dial showcases an engraved scene. The case, made of gilded brass and silver, is adorned with four engraved scenes on the front and is fitted with a hinged rock crystal cover that conceals the dial. Abraham Bobinet was a French watchmaker from Paris, left his signature on the back plate of the movement.
