Gold quarter repeating pocket watch by Breguet

A French fine and rare 18 carat gold key wound open faced repeating pocket watch, circa 1821. Sold on march 3rd 1821 to Mr Dussumier for 1452 francs. Jewelled movement with 3-arm balance, parachute regulation and compensating curb, blued steel balance spring, two small polished hammers striking on a gong activated by pull-and-twist piston in the bow.
Engine-turned gilt dial with Roman chapter and outer five-minute dots, blued steel Breguet hands. Engine-turned gold case with vacant cartouche on the reverse, and stamped JJL for the case maker Jean-Louis Joly, engine-turned band, dial signed Breguet et Fils and cuvette signed Breguet Hor De La Marine Royal.

The Breguet Archives confirm that Breguet No.3650, a “Répétition d’or, 21 lignes ½”, and in a gold case N° 2400 by Joly, was Sold on March 3rd 1821 to Mr Dussumier for 1452 Francs.
