Pocket watch with repeating on a bell

A rare oignon shaped watch with quarter repeating on a bell, made by Charles Voisin in Paris, France, circa 1718. This watch has a pierced case with bell crafted from silver and the enamel dial has raised cartouches with five minute – and Roman hour numerals and hands which were added later. The oignon movement has a verge escapement and a  decorative bridge with bird motifs and mythical creatures.
The movement is signed.

Voisin
Charles Voisin (1685-1761) Charles Voisin, who was born in Paris in 1685, became a master clockmaker in 1710. After working at the Rue de Sevres for some time he moved to the Rue Dauphine in 1713. Voisin was married twice; he was the father of nine children and two of them became master clockmakers too. Charles Voisin handed his business over to his second son Antoine Henry in 1760 and died in Paris early in 1761.
