Silver lever with centre seconds

A Swiss silver and gold two-train lever chronometer pocket watch, circa 1880. With independent jumping centre seconds and a gold wheel train. Cast and chased decoration on the case, the bezel with a Greek-key pattern, scalloped band, the back cover with a geometric pattern with border to match the bezel, the interior engraved with the technical details, gold hinges, thumb-piece, collar and stop-slide at 10. Glazed silver-rimmed cuvette to view the movement.

White enamel dial with radial narrow Roman numerals, outer minute track. Blued steel Breguet hands. A rhodium-plated movement, 23 jewels, Geneva striping decoration, two trains with tandem winding, gold wheel train, straight line counterpoised lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator with an engraved scale on the main bridge. Dial and movement signed, dial plate also punched FP.

An extremely fine example of a watch with independent seconds. As would be expected of Fritz Piguet, the movement is very finely finished with gold wheel train and chronometer grade escapement. The case is unusually high-quality, very finely chased and with gold details.
